What is the CDCP?
For Canadian citizens without access to dental benefits and with annual household incomes under $90,000, the federal government offers coverage through the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).
The CDCP is not a free dental program, and it is not meant to take the place of current private, employer, or educational benefits.
What services are
covered by the CDCP?
Examples of services that could be covered under the CDCP include:
Cleaning, polishing, sealants, & fluoride
Examinations
& X-rays
Fillings & root canal treatments
Complete & partial removable dentures
Oral surgery services, including extractions
Who can currently apply for the CDCP?
Seniors aged 65 and over
Seniors aged between 55-64
Adults aged between 35 - 54
Now Available
Adults aged between 18 - 34
Children under the age of 18
Adults with disabilities, ODSP, Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO)

Why double check your eligibility?
To qualify for the CDCP, you must meet all four requirements.
Before applying to the CDCP, you should check that you:
Don’t have access to dental insurance.
Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000.
Are a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Filed your tax return for the previous year.
If i qualify for the CDCP – will my dental care be free?
No.
Free dental care is not offered by the CDCP. Only a portion of the cost of your care is covered by the government dental benefit. Depending on your adjusted net family income, you might have to pay for some of your dental care. Additionally, you might be responsible for paying the dentist’s fees that the CDCP does not cover.
